Summary of Meeting of January 11, 2011

The Hon. Scott Avedisian, President, called the meeting to order at 4:35 pm. Other members in attendance were Ms. Caryl Frink, Ms. Frances Gammell-Roach, the Rev. Pamela Mott, Mr. WIlliam Plumb, and the Rev. Stephanie Shoemaker. The Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf was also present for part of the meeting.

1. The meeting was opened with prayer by Bp. Wolf.

2. Bishop Wolf reported on appointments she has made under the revised Canon XVI of the Diocese of RI effective July 1, 2011: these appointments are also in preparation for the July 1, 2011 effective date of the revised Title IV of the Canons of the Episcopal Church.

a. Bp. Wolf appoints the Rev. James Bocchino as President of the Disciplinary Board.

b. Bp. Wolf appoints Canon Betsy Fornal as the Intake Officer.

c. The Standing Committee confirmed the nomination of Patricia A. Sullivan for a five year term as Church Attorney.

3. The minutes of the Dec. 14, 2010 meeting were accepted.

4. A list detailing the current status of all those in the ordination process was circulated. and a discussion was begun later in the meeting regarding the responsibilities of the Standing Committee in the ordination process.

5. The minutes of the 12/22/10 meeting of the Mission Task Force were distributed:

6. Following further communication with the leadership of All Saints Church, Providence, the Standing Committee approved and endorsed their relationship with an ELCA Hispanic congregation which will rent space from All Saints Church.

7. It was voted to consent to the Ordination of

a. Scott Martin Field as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of West Missouri.

b. R. William Franklin as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocesan of Western New York.

c. Daniel Hayden Martins as Bishop Diocesan of the Diocese of Springfield.
